2024 has been quite the road trip year! We started off the year at the end of January driving to Dallas, TX for the 2024 National Storm Chaser Summit, then had a quick trip to Southern Ohio to chase at the beginning of April. Instead of being in the Midwest the entire month of May, we broke it up, which started with a Midwest chase at the end of April, which ended up totaling 4,400 miles between April 23rd and 29th. Dan chased solo between May 4th-9th and added on 3,280 miles. Finally, to end our Midwest chasecation, we did 5,771 miles between May 19th-27th.

Which brings us to today! Sunday, June 23rd, 2024. Yesterday, Dan and I started out our morning with the spontaneous decision to go camping at Mt. Airy for the weekend at a site we found on hipcamp. We had started to pack when Dan saw that the SPC put out a day 2 outlook that included a 10% chance of tornados in New England, around Vermont and Maine. I have been wanting to go back to New England anyways and see Dan experience it, so I was extra excited! We left around 4pm and had a great drive. We had already wanted to camp, so we (after a couple tries driving through the Delaware State Forest!) found a campsite on the Delaware river at Dingmans Ferry, PA. We were really close to the Himalayan Institute where William and Carrie are, but we didn’t get in till around 2am and had to head onwards the next morning! We slept really well, and it was so cool to wake up in Pennsylvania.

This morning, we hardboiled some eggs over the fire for breakfast, packed up the tent, and checked out the Delaware River before heading on our way! I found a couple cool rocks to bring back to the kids.

I just started really trying to learn the DSLR, so we stopped close by at Dingmans Falls to figure out our next move, see the waterfalls, and let me practice with the camera! It was such a beautiful area. It reminded me so much of parts of New Zealand, specifically the parts that felt like you were transported to the Jurassic Era.
Now (2:10pm) we are heading to Eastern Vermont to hopefully catch the renegade supercells set to occur in the evening!
